Interested in finding ways to make a difference in the Democratic Party? Consider becoming a Precinct Executive, acting as a liaison between the precinct in which you live and the county party. Every seat that is not filled means that a neighborhood is not properly represented at the county level. That means new voters may not get registered, or provided with voter information before elections. Voter turnout likely suffers, and ultimately voters do not have an adequate voice.
If you are a registered Dem you may still file a declaration of candidacy to run as a write-in candidate in the primary to represent your precinct.
One could argue that dysfunction within the party is directly proportionate to the lack of representation at the precinct level, which can ultimately lead to corruption and losses. Vacancies are widespread and yet we have so much at stake. Now more than ever we have to ask ourselves what more we can do to make a difference.
