The Congressional redistricting reform initiative has been approved by the Ohio Attorney General and Ballot Board. Now, it is time to prepare to circulate the petitions to get this initiative on the ballot. Over 305,000 verifiable signatures must be collected — and if that’s completed by early July, this could be on the November 2017 ballot.
If you signed up to collect signatures, or are now interested, we want to support you! We are forming our neighborhood teams and hope you will participate. Our goal is to both collect signatures and begin a discussion within our local community about redistricting. This amendment will go on the ballot in the future, and we want voters to be educated and engaged when it does.
Some of the Wooster Corridor Democratic Club members have attended or viewed trainings on how to circulate the petitions, and we will be sharing that information at upcoming events – as well as coordinating with the Ohio and Hamilton County Democratic Parties to help us spread the word through canvassing and other efforts in our neighborhood.
There are two upcoming events at which you can learn more:
- You are welcome to join us for a training on circulating petitions and neighborhood planning session at 7:00PM this Friday evening, 06/02. Please RSVP to Kristen at firstname.lastname@example.org by Friday morning if you plan to attend.
- The Hamilton County Democratic Party is hosting a kick-off event at 10:30AM this Saturday, 06/03 at their headquarters — 6109 Webbland Place, Cincinnati, 45213. We will try to get petitions as soon as possible — but HCDP will have them at their event on Saturday if we can’t get them before.
